The easiest way to reach Estoril is by train from Lisbon’s Cais do Sodré station. The station is adjacent to the Metro station of the same name which is the terminus for the subway’s green line (Linha da Caravela).
It is a pleasant 30 minute journey along the coastline, with beautiful views of the sea, the Belem tower, the Ponte de 25 Abril bridge, and many of the towns and villages on the coast.
The trains run frequently, from early morning until around 1:00 in the evening. Tickets are purchased from either the ticket office, or machines which accept coins, notes and credit cards. You can purchase a single ticket for €1.45, 10 trips for €15.30 or a 5-day multi-trips ticket for €13:60. Detailed information regarding the train schedule can be found online.
